Do you use Scratch with students?

The NICE (Northern Illinois Computing Educators) chapter is having a meeting on Animation in the Classroom. Would anyone like to speak at it? It is Wednesday, March 19th at New Trier. Let me know. Thanks!

I have used it with one group of students and am getting ready to start it again. I do a very basic unit. If you are interested in hearing more about what I do, before either of us commits, email me at ericaroberts at mac doc com.

Could you post your unit here so we can all benefit? I am just getting started, and would love to look at a unit that I could try as I learn this new capability.

I will post my unit, once I have it documented. I have only taught it once, and am getting ready to start again next week. When I finish the unit, I should have something to post.

Boy, do I understand starting something new. I am not looking for a complete unit, just some help on how you started, and what you were able to accomplish with your first try. How long is your session? Can you tell me the grade, and what your focus was, and what the end product is?

I am also getting ready to start this on the 10th, and would appreciate any help/hints that you have. I will be working with 8th graders for 6 weeks.

Your input is greatly appreciated.

I just had scratch installed in the MIDI lab at Sunset Ridge School. I am having a group of students working on projects here and at home. It is an incredible programming tool. I will let you know when we finally post.
