Connecting to the World of Tomorrow

Scratch is an awesome tool!

A couple weeks ago I received an email from our district Tech Administrator, Chris Fahnoe, with a link to Scratch. I have been trying to find ways to make learning art concepts more interactive since I am getting a Smartboard in my art room and this was it! I'm still a novice, but after even my first attempt I was able to make a couple little programs that I really can use. Here is a link to my Color Wheel Spinner where I plan on having a student spin the spinner and then tell me if the color it landed on is primary, secondary, or which color is its complement. Here is my Build a Landscape game where I will ask students to arrange the objects while we discuss foreground, middleground, background, overlapping, horizon line, and shapes.
One more...I wanted to make something to introduce my Kindergartners to figure drawing. So this people puzzle is a way they can physically assemble the body.

Love the spinner! We will be trying Scratch at Sandburg Middle School, and I will also show the art teacher your spinner. I think students will really enjoy being creative with this.
